Opening books

Moving from QuickBooks, Xero or a spreadsheet: bring in your chart of accounts, then your trial balance on the day before your books start in Senots. Nothing is saved until you press Import.

1. Chart of accounts

Export the account list (QuickBooks: Chart of accounts → Run report → Export to CSV; Xero: Chart of accounts → Export). Accounts you already have (same code, or same name when the file has no codes) are kept; the others are added with their type. Accounts without a code get the next free one.

2. Opening balances

Export the trial balance as of the day before your books start (QuickBooks: Reports → Trial balance; Xero: Reports → Trial balance), with Account (or Account code), Debit and Credit columns. It must balance. Senots posts one opening entry; importing again replaces it until the books are locked.

3. Open invoices

Invoices your customers still owe, issued before the books start (QuickBooks: Reports → A/R Aging Detail; Xero: Aged Receivables Detail). Each keeps its number and the amount still owed. They are not booked again — the opening balances already hold them — and payments on them clear receivables.

4. Open bills

Bills you still owe, dated before the books start (QuickBooks: A/P Aging Detail; Xero: Aged Payables Detail). Pay them from Bills as usual.

Check

The open invoices and bills you brought in should add up to the receivables and payables in your opening balances.
